A blind date through a horsey friend brought John and Lucinda Stapleton together. Today, six years later, they run a small livery yard set in Norfolk.

John, the businessman of the partnership, has a background in retail, sales and property development. Lucinda's horse-riding dreams were fuelled by polo, and as a flat race jockey in Kenya. When not on horseback, she enjoyed a career as a journalist with British Airways, Debrett's and Abercrombie & Kent.

Another pony passion - endurance riding - led Lucinda to Horse Quencher. It said, "you lead 'em to water, we'll make 'em drink". Catchy phrase and quite a claim given most horses are fussy about their fluid intake. She was sceptical.

Their website put her straight. Horse Quencher, developed by three New Jersey horsewomen, had proved an immediate hit and a ‘must have’ for a number of horses troubled by the heat and humidity of the 2008 Hong Kong Olympics.

What really sent Lucinda into orbit was her own mare’s reaction to the ‘horsey cocktail.’ She mobbed the bucket for it! So Lucinda tried it on her liveries. They too drank and drank! In 40 years of being around horses, Lucinda had never seen anything like it.

So Horse Quencher became Lucinda’s New Best Friend ensuring her mare drank copiously at every equestrian event. It became New Best Friends with quite a few others too, as everywhere she went Lucinda found herself riding with, or parked up by, horses with a drinking problem.

In an age where medicine and technology have helped horses beyond man’s wildest dreams, their ability to not drink when they need to most, and the adverse effects this has on their health, seems the last bastion in the eternal quest for harmony between rider and horse.

Horse Quencher is a proven solution.

Happy drinking!
